I’ve been looking at getting one or two new websites up and running very quickly using Wordpress blogging software.

I use it on a lot of sites, but usually like to play around with it so that I can get the look and feel that I want.

This time though I’m going to see how the standard blogging format works, with the only customisation being replacing the default look of a Wordpress blog (known as a theme) by one of the many free alternatives available (check most of them out here).

So anyway, within minutes I have my webspace in place and have Wordpress installed (it was never a difficult task, but now with cpanels including Fantastico it is even easier). I then chose a theme I liked the look of, downloaded it, unzipped it and then uploaded it to the theme directory in my Wordpress installation.

Hey presto I have a new blog ready to populate with articles!

One thing I noticed immediately though was that whereas the url to my new website would be http://www.example.com, all of the blog’s internal links pointed to http://example.com (without the www).

So how do you change that?

Well, very easily - if you know what to do. I didn’t, but soon found out how thanks to the excellent visual tutorial at The Tamba2 Wordpress Guides.

Now all I have to do is change a graphic and start adding those articles and I’m in business!
