Entrepreneur - One Man One Mission One Million One Year

Belated Happy New Year To One And All
Tuesday January 15th 2008, 9:13 pm

First of all, a belated Happy New Year to you and apologies for the long silence since my last post.

I received an e-mail the other day with a suggestion to improve entrepreneur.co.uk.

“I suggest you update your blog more often,” said Chris.

And he has a point.

Entrepreneur.co.uk isn’t updated anywhere near as often as it should be.

The main reason for this is that I’m creating content for my other websites or working on improving existing pages on other websites or searching for new domain names or looking at ways to increase my income or . . . you get the idea.

The truth is entrepreneur.co.uk is just one site in a stable that now encompasses just short of 100 websites (all at various stages of development naturally).

So let’s just say I’m never short of things to do.

But Chris’ comment got me thinking and I’ll see what I can do to spend more time on entrepreneur.co.uk this year. I may continue to document my mission to build an internet empire worth a million pounds (yeah, I know, third year and all that, but things are heading in the right direction so I’m not about to stop) or entrepreneur.co.uk may become part of another project that I’ve been seriously thinking about doing.

As for 2007, well it was a great year for me business-wise.

The biggest revenue growth area was advertising sold direct on property and other “pay to list” websites. I love sites like this, particularly if I can satisfy the needs of niche markets far better than much bigger sites in the same industry can.

I also more than doubled my Amazon revenue and my affiliate related income grew by five or six times (admittedly from a fairly low base, but the potential for income growth here alone is huge).

My Google Adsense income for 2007 was only slightly more than it was in 2006 which was slightly disappointing, but this January is shaping up to me my best Google Adsense month ever.

2008 has started with me looking at building some almost pure affiliate sites (more on this in another post) and creating a simple alternative to the current blogging software I use.

I’m not trying to reinvent the wheel and couldn’t even begin to create software as powerful as Wordpress, but I’ve been working on a simple design for a website that has the look and feel of a blog, but is really just a run-of-the-mill website with html pages.

Belly Blog, one man’s battle of the bulge (that man being me by the way) gives you an idea of what I’m talking about.

Originally a blog built using Wordpress in late 2006, it floundered after a few posts, but I’m hoping both it and me will stay the course this time.

But then again it may end up with irate belly watchers e-mailing me like Chris did telling me to update it more often when my initial enthusiasm for shedding some pounds wains.

Still, if nothing else it’s a good example of turning whatever it is you are doing with your time into a website. A thought that just might spark an idea or two in your own mind for new projects for 2008.

Best wishes for 2008 and I hope it’s a successful one for you.
