Amazingly for someone who checks his Google Adsense stats more often than is probably healthy, I didn’t realise until Friday just how close I was to earning US$2,000 in a month for the very first time.

It looked like I would do it yesterday, but in the end I had to wait until this morning to pass the US$2,000 barrier for the first time in a single month. And there’s still five days to go! Definitely a cause for a celebratory meal out with my family today methinks.

I know there will be people reading this who only make a few dollars a day and will be thinking that US$2,000 a month is a distant dream. Equally there will be people reading this who are making much much more who will be thinking been there, done that.

The point is we all start by only making cents a day. Looking back at my own history, my first month with Adsense - May 2005 - shows I made a grand total of 76c! By August 2005 I thought I was doing well having earned US$10.76 in a month.

As the Chinese philosopher Lao-tzu said, “The journey of a thousand miles begins beneath one’s feet.”
