That’s Christmas Over – Happy New Year!
I decided on Friday that I’d done more or less all I can do in terms of preparing my websites for this Christmas. I will continue to timker with them right up to the last moment, making price changes, adding discount codes and so on, but basically that’s me for this year. It’s just a case now of seeing how my efforts to date pay off in the coming weeks. My target of earning £1,000 in affiliate commission is still possible, but after a somewhat disappointing weekend it looks like I may fall short. That said, stats to most of my websites suggest that a great deal of people are surfing my sites when they really should be working (I’m not complaining!) so maybe sales will be better during the week. Now I’m moving on to sites that need to be ready for January – when people atre fired up about their New Year’s resolutions. So I’ll be creating content for sites relating to losing weight, stopping smoking and – what I think will be huge next year – making money. Plus of course there are the January sales. Summer holidays. And it’s not too early to be thinking of Valentine’s Day either. Traffic is what makes a website a success, and by tailoring your content to what people are searching for via the search engines at key points of the year you can see traffic figures rocket. There’s a good post about key affiliate dates over on the Web Affiliate Marketing Blog that’s well worth bookmarking. It advises having sites ready and tested three months before the big event and that’s spot on. Obviously you’ll need to flesh out the details closer to the date, but all of the basics should be in place well ahead of time so that the search engines can do their magic. Being that organised isn’t always possible despite the best laid plans of mice and men, and I’ve been guilty of leaving things to the last moment too often in recent years. My Christmas campaign has been far better organised this year and I’m hoping next year will see further improvements. Nothing left to add except Happy New Year! |
