Guess How Much I Earned From Affiliate Marketing In November?

You may remember that I set myself a target of £1,000 in affiliate commissions for November. It was a bit of fun really because I’m no fan of setting goals that I have no control over. But I just wanted to put a figure out there into the public domain to see if it was a realistic yardstick or not after spending much of September and October getting my sites ready for Christmas.

Another point worth mentioning. I wanted to earn that £1,000 without spending a penny driving traffic to my websites.

The internet is awash with “success stories” who are quick to show you a big cheque to demonstrate how much they earn, but aren’t so quick to tell you how much they had to spend to get it. There’s a big different between spending £2,000 on Google Adwords to earn £1,000 and spending nothing at all on Google Adwords and earning £1,000.

Anyway, did I make a thousand pounds? No I didn’t. I made the grand total of £762.15 in affiliate commission during the month of November. Easily my best month to date in affiliate marketing and a figure that I know I will better this time next year. It was also the first month ever that I have earned something every single day from affiliate marketing.

The good news is that December has got off to a flying start too. To be honest, Mega Monday was nothing of the kind for me (and I suspect it won’t be the busiest online shopping day of the year despite all the media hype), but generally speaking December has continued where November left off.

My other earning streams have not been dramatically affected by the increased presence of merchant offers on my sites either – something that I thought might happen. Sales through Amazon for example (which I didn’t count towards the £1,000 November target) were up 8.55% year on year and Google Adsense earnings are bang on the button too.

I’m already working on my sites for the New Year and am looking at better ways to integrate merchant offerings into my pages, particularly on sites which I think have underperformed compared to others.

And I’m really looking forward to this time next year when I hope to smash through the £1,000 barrier. And then some.
