Ten Years Younger In 2010?

Happy New Year!  And may 2010 bring you good health and good fortune.

I have to admit I love New Year.  Not so much for the fireworks and hangovers that greet each one, but for the opportunity to make a fresh start.  To make resolutions.  Set goals for the coming year.

As per usual, I’ve made a flying start.  I was up bright and early on New Year’s Day, updating and adding content to my key websites.  I’ve got a lot more to do over the weekend too so that I can start the first working week of 2010 running at full speed.

I’m hoping to end the year running at full speed too, but in the true sense of the words because 2010 is the year I’m going to lose weight. I’ve slowly but surely been piling on unwanted pounds over the last decade to the point where I am now officially overweight and heading towards obesity. What really did it for me though was getting a set of Tanita Body Composition Monitor Scales for my birthday and finding out that my “body age” was 50 (yes, I immediately assumed they were faulty too, but apparently not).

It would be nice to think that by this time next year I’ll be reporting that a new slimmer me is officially ten years younger.  I actually tried to lose weight two years ago and even started a blog about it – Belly Blog.  Two years on and I’ve even had the cheek to post there again.

Looking at what else I’ve got outlined for the coming year, I think 2010 is going to be a year of consolidation.  I want to take a few sites to the next level rather than spend time launching ever more sites that all too often fall by the way side after the first few days (weeks, months) of enthusiastic building.  Not that I won’t be tempted to stray from the path of righteousness, but if I can keep new projects to a minimum this year, I’ll be a happy man.

Besides, I’ve got a book, Get Out While You Can, nearing completion and it’s at the very top of all of my to do lists for 2010.  I want to have copies available during the first half of this year so much of my time during January and February is going to be invested in finishing it and getting it published.  Any thoughts of new projects will have to take a back seat until I make my book happen.

Finally, 2010 is going to be the year when I start thinning out my domain name portfolio.  It too is bordering on obesity, with me having more names than I could possibly develop in ten lifetimes, let alone what’s left of this one.  Any big sales I’ll note here, buyer permitting.

So that’s me sorted.  What about you and your plans for 2010?

Happy new year to you too George –
This year I’m going to get my online income to a sufficient level to live on. Things are going well so I feel very positive! I have put a stop to buying new domains (though I bought 2 just half an hour ago!) until I have developed the ones I have.

I know what you mean about putting weight on, it just sneaks up on you. Fortunately I changed my lifestyle completely last year so I’m now on the right track. If I can give one bit of advice: Don’t try and change everything at once, start exercising but don’t start living on salads immediately otherwise it won’t work. After a few weeks of exercise you’ll feel like eating healthier foods naturally. I’d also recommend a regular commitment to exercise like meeting friends for football or a class, that way even when you don’t feel like it you have to, but you’ll feel great afterwards. Losing weight and staying fit is a marathon not a sprint, so try and do something every day, I often get down and do a few press-ups next to the computer, not killing my self just getting the heart and metabolism going. And keep up the belly blog lol!

Cheers Dean – a little by little is good advice. If you lose only a pound a week in weight, that’s 52 pounds in a year which isn’t far short of four stone. Like the press ups idea too. Every time I feel the urge to go and get a biscuit I should do ten press-ups instead.
