Get Out While You Can – An Update
Just a quick update on the progress of my forthcoming book, Get Out While You Can. Things have been progressing really well and I’m very pleased as to how it has come together since the start of this year.
I’m now close to having it finished and worked out this morning that I will have a final draft ready by the end of March. Thanks to the wonders of digital printing, I will then get a single copy delivered to me in book format so that I can read it through to make sure everything is as it should be and to make any last minute changes.
Then it will be ready to go to print and I now expect to have copies available from June 2010.
If you are one of those who have signed up to my mailing list, fuull details of the book and how you can order your copy will be sent as soon as the book is at the printers. The price is almost certainly going to be below £15 including delivery. For some I have no doubt it will prove priceless.
2010 will only see a limited release of Get Out While You Can because as well as offering my Plan B, I want to devote as much time as I can to helping those first readers develop their own Plan B. Given my already busy schedule, this is only going to be possible by limiting the number of copies sold – hence my desire to help 1,000 people escape the rat race during 2010.
I checked this morning and now have over 1,000 people on my mailing list. I realise not all will want to buy a copy of the book when published, but together with copies that have been earmarked for distribution elsewhere (I have two talks lined up for later this year for example), I believe I will comfortably reach my 1,000 sales target for 2010. So I’ve now closed the list. Aploogies if you will miss out this year, but hopefully the book will go on general sale sometime during 2011

Great news. Seems like ages since you first mentioned the book. Be good if you could advise where you are doing the talks. If one or both are near me I would like to attend.
Thanks
Jamie
Although it is a completely different animal now, I first started writing Get Out While You Can in 2003 so yes it has been a long time coming! The two talks are to University societies and I don’t think they will be open to the public. I’ll post details of any public talks on the blog.
Hi George
Book sounds interesting. Sorry to have missed out on the sign-ups. Like you, I’m a firm believer in doing things differently and have based my business around a freelance workforce. I’m working on a book myself based on classic entrepreneurial mistakes (and learning from them in order to succeed next time). Last time, I got out too – there are two ways when running your own business: sale, which is all about timing; and liquidation which is the decision not to invest more time in something that isn’t going to work! Good luck with the book.
